THE ORIGINS OF LIMOM

LIMOM LA was founded in 2018 on the basis that at some point in every person’s life are bound to feel lost, not knowing which way to turn. This feeling can stem from a multitude of things ranging from family dynamics, to big career decisions, to deep depression. Out of these universal internal struggles LIMOM LA was born. Since then, LIMOM has designed products and made decisions with this lost feeling as our guiding principle.

We hope to be more than just a design on a textile. Our goal is to create timeless pieces that can be worn daily while also sparking conversations between the wearer and the observer. If successful, LIMOM can foster a community of people who are lost alone, but are able to find their way together. We understand that every circumstance is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health care.

Our mission is to invoke substantial change in the way mental health care is accessed and administered. Too many people don’t seek help because of barriers to access as well as perceived consequences or stigmas of doing so. That must change. That is why LIMOM plans to donate 10% of profits to various charities with the eventual goal of increasing that percentage to over 50% in the future. Eventually LIMOM would like to establish our own foundation that supports young people navigate their mental health struggles.

LIMOM is based in San Diego, a beautiful part of Southern California known for its amazing beaches and warm weather. Being that the business is entirely based here, one may ask themselves how LIMOM LA came to be. Shouldn’t it be LIMOM SD? The reasoning is actually quite simple. Our founder takes much of his influence for design from Los Angeles. LA is full of inspirational people, places, and things that make it one of the world’s capitals for design. It is where he fell in love with clothing in addition to being the birthplace for the saying “Lost In My Own Mind.”

What about the logo? Let’s start with the tree, our logo features a Torrey Pine tree. Torrey pines are actually native to San Diego and are one of a select number of trees that have branches which grow both downward and upward. These branches represent the ebbs and flows of life that everyone experiences. The head features an ear, but no mouth. Why? Because we believe the best way to understand other peoples struggles is through listening, not speaking. The logo is simple on the surface, but just like a human, you never know what lies below.
